American Born Chinese

I've just finished reading American Born Chinese. Its a graphic novel by Gene Luen Yang and colored by cartoonist Lark Pien. Its interesting how the book begin with 3 different tales which eventually merges into a complete story. The 1st is the legendary folk tale of The Monkey King.
The 2nd is about Jin Wang a Chinese American boy who tries hard to be a regular American boy especially after he had a crush on his classmate, an all-American girl, Amelia Harris. The 3rd tale is about Danny, anAmerican boy, whose Chinese cousin Chin-Kee comes and visits every year. Chin-Kee is a Chinese stereotype who would embarrass Danny every time he visits. As these 3 tales come together, there is an unexpected twist. The story is about the characters struggle against discrimination, their quest for self-identity, self-acceptance and truth.
